The body of a missing toddler from Lansing has been located.

Detroit police found the body of 2-year-old Wynter Cole Smith on Wednesday (July 5) in the evening hours behind a home near Olympia Street and Erwin Avenue, according to WDIV Detroit.

The toddler was last seen on Sunday around 11:30pm. The kidnapping suspect, 26-year-old Rashad Trice, was arrested and is in police custody.

Wynter's mother told Lansing Police that the man, whom she knows from a previous relationship, took her daughter and her car Sunday. The 22-year-old woman was last listed in stable condition and is being treated at a hospital for stab wounds.
