Paving took place this week at the intersection of Pontiac Trail and North Territorial Road, where a roundabout is being constructed and nearing completion in Salem Township.

The Washtenaw County Road Commission advises that its contractor was placing the second layer of asphalt, often called the top course, on the roundabout. The paving of driveway and private road approaches within the work zone were to follow.

Once paving has been completed, the Road Commission notes that there is still a checklist of various items to complete before the intersection can be re-opened. That includes turf restoration in areas disturbed by construction, gravel shoulders, permanent signs, pavement markings, and general clean-up.

In the meantime, motorists are reminded the intersection remains closed to all thru-traffic.
