A road resurfacing project will create more delays for motorists in Northfield Township this week.

The contractor for the Washtenaw County Road Commission is beginning a resurfacing project on Barker Road between US-23 and Main Street.

Barker Road will not be closed to traffic but motorists can expect delays due to lane restrictions and a flagging operation.

The Road Commission advises that motorists, emergency services and others use an alternate route.

The road improvements are expected to take approximately one week. However, all dates are tentative and subject to change due to weather conditions.

A letter from the contractor states the work will be done on Barker from the RR tracks to Main Street and on Main Street from 8 Mile to East Shore Drive. They plan to start with the milling operation and begin paving soon afterward. On those days, access to the road is limited and parking is restricted. The company asks for cooperation by keeping cars parked off the street until the resurfacing is complete.

A link to the letter is provided.
