A Brighton non-profit has been named one of the coolest places to work in the state.

For nearly 50 years, Work Skills Corporation has provided services focused on helping individuals identify, secure and retain employment. Now, Crain’s Detroit Business, in partnership with Best Companies Group, is recognizing WSC as one of Crain’s Cool Places to Work in Michigan. One of 100 companies selected, the award recognizes WSC for building an enviable workplace that includes flexibility, empowerment, and effective relationships.

The non-profit strives to serve people with disabilities and other employment barriers by offering progressive educational and vocational development opportunities based on a person-centered approach. Though they help those with disabilities, WSC’s philosophy is to focus on the individuals abilities. They now operate 7 all-inclusive divisions that provide services to youth, adults, and employers in several areas.

President and CEO Tina Jackson said, in a release, that they are honored to be included among their colleagues and to recognized for the Crain’s award. She said they are especially proud of their staff for their ongoing flexibility, adaptability, and resilience as they continue to work together to deliver high quality services.
