The City of Howell is among the local communities hosting a Memorial Day parade this weekend to remember and honor those who have served.

The popular parade steps off at 10am Monday at the Howell Carnegie District Library and will proceed down Grand River before ending at Lakeview Cemetery.

Mayor Bob Ellis says the City partners with the American Legion Post 141 in presenting the parade for the community. He tells WHMI there will be some stops along the parade route to lay wreaths on different monuments before ending at the Lakeview Cemetery where he’ll share a few words, along with State Representative and Veteran Bob Bezotte.

Ellis says Memorial Day is a time to remember all veterans who have died in defense of the country or have passed away, noting it’s a more solemn occasion and a time to give thanks for their sacrifices.
