The 19th Annual South Lyon Area Creek Clean-Up and Earth Day Celebration had a record turnout this past weekend.

Volunteers met in the parking lot of Michigan Seamless Tube on Sunday before breaking into small groups and heading out to multiple locations within the Huron River Watershed to remove trash and debris from area waterways, creeks, and streams.

South Lyon City Councilman Alex Hansen reported on social media that was event was a “resounding success”. Despite chilly temperatures, there was a record turnout of around 100 volunteers that removed hundreds of pounds of trash and a few dozen tires.

All South Lyon City Council members and various elected officials, local legislators, and leaders turned out for the event.

The annual event is sponsored by South Lyon Area Boy Scouts Troop 228, Michigan Seamless Tube and Pipe, and the City of South Lyon Utilities Department.
