The City of Brighton is continuing efforts to educate residents and businesses about an upcoming millage proposal.

Voters in the City of Brighton will consider a Headlee Override Millage Proposal for public streets and related infrastructure improvements on the August 7th ballot. If approved, the city would restrict the funds to the reconstruction and maintenance of public streets and related infrastructure. Items would be prioritized by available data and annually-updated capital plans.

Facts, data, and tools relating to efforts to replace, repair, and sustain a quality public street network are available on the city’s website, www.brightoncity.org/streets. A map showing various street conditions is also available.

The city says the page will continue to be updated over the coming months but one new tool is an estimated tax increase calculator. Individuals can enter their "taxable value" and an estimate of the increase will be generated. Some real examples are included on the calculator page and that link is provided.
