February is National Children’s Dental Health Month and a local dentistry is raising awareness by offering kids the chance to win a bicycle and helmet.

My Community Dental Centers, or MCDC, has 36 locations statewide, one of which is located on Byron Road in Howell. To promote National Children’s Dental Health Month, each MCDC will be holding their own bicycle sweepstakes. Throughout the month, any child can go to MCDC and enter their name into the ballot box. They are not required to be a patient. A name will be drawn on Thursday, March 1st and the winner will receive a bicycle and helmet.

MCDC Marketing Coordinator Amanda Kelley says the contest encourages children to develop and maintain good oral health habits.Kelley says children who establish good oral hygiene habits are more likely to continue that behavior as adults and therefore will experience far fewer dental problems, maintain a positive self-image, and perform better in school. This year’s campaign slogan is, “Brush your teeth with fluoride toothpaste and clean between your teeth for a healthy smile.”
