An annual Bells Across America event will be observed locally and a special program is planned.

The gathering is organized by the Livingston County Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution to celebrate the 230th anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution, which will be observed Sunday, September 17th. The non-profit works to promote historic preservation, education, and patriotism. Bells Across America was first conceived in 1993. Ringing the bells at 4:00pm on Constitution Day in all time zones is encouraged so that they are heard simultaneously.

Organizers say everyone is welcome to attend the local bell ringing event. Attendees will gather under the clock tower in front of the Howell Carnegie District Library for a short program and then ring bells at 4pm to commemorate the time and day the U.S. Constitution was signed. (JM)
