Brighton’s hockey team is in action this afternoon when the Bulldogs play host to Plymouth in a KLAA crossover at the Kensington Valley Ice house. The game will serve as a fundraiserfor the Darein Locklear Kindness Scholarship, named after the Brighton student who was killed in an auto accident just over a year ago while traveling to East Lansing for a hockey practice. Her mother, Regina Locklear, talked about the inspiration for the scholarship.

The goal is to raise money for one or two scholarships for Brighton High School students based on their kindness and how they treat other students. The scholarship is to be part of an organization called the Darien Locklear Project, which Regina Locklcar says is still in the planning stages. Brighton coach Paul Moggach was happy to participate.

There will be raffle tickets and T-shirts sold, among other items and all proceeds will go to the scholarship fund. The game will start at 4 p.m.
