Congratulations to WHMI's second "Making the Grade" winner;

Livingston Educational Service Agency Special Education Teacher Mary K. Joins! Mary is a very dedicated and caring teacher with endless patience and love for her students.

Congratulations to WHMI's third "Making the Grade" winner;

Charyl Stockwell Academy Elementary Teacher Nicole Glenn!

Nominated by Barbara Jenkins, "Nicole is a very dedicated teacher". This is her third year of teaching and I have never met anyone that is so passionate and in love with her students. Recently she had exposure to COVID-19 and had to quarantine. During that period her concern was about her students - she talked daily to the substitute to see how everyone was doing, wrote emails regarding lessons, then just before she came back did videos with them. She feels it is so important this year for her students because they are in kindergarten to have the right experience for future years."

Congratulations to WHMI's final "Making the Grade" winner;

Three Fires Elementary Teacher Jill Cain from Howell Public Schools!

Jill was nominated by Rebecca Raether, who said she “had such a positive impact” on her child. After Rebecca was diagnosed with COVID right before Thanksgiving, her family went in quarantine for two weeks, prompting Rebecca to worry that her son might fall behind. “Mrs. Cain was amazing during this time. She went above and beyond what many teachers would have done. She dropped off his books, folders and such on our porch with notes helping to make sure we all knew what he would need to be doing. She knows that he looks forward to interacting with his classmates and set up her iPad and a zoom link so he could actively participate in the instruction every day. Even though he wasn't there he was able to raise his hand and add to classroom discussions! At the beginning of my sickness, we were not sure what to expect and she took the worry regarding school right out of the equation. I am forever grateful for the creative, caring, intelligent, compassionate and fun teacher we have in Mrs. Cain. To say she is amazing is an understatement! She is one of a kind!”

Jill was also recently named as the HPS Teacher of the Year!
